    Postdoctoral Researcher, DigiTwin Lab, Aalto University

    Dr. Xinyi Tu is a Postdoctoral Researcher at DigiTwin Lab, Aalto University, Finland. She specializes in the integration of Digital Twins and Extended Reality within the Industrial Metaverse and Industry 5.0.

    Her doctoral thesis, titled "Industrial Metaverse: Revolutionizing Industry 5.0 with Digital Twins and Extended Reality," outlines a pioneering approach to creating human-centric, technology-augmented Industrial ecosystems.

    Xinyi has worked closely with both industry and academia, through Business Finland funded co-innovation projects and research collaboration with the University of Cambridge's Cyber-Human Lab. Xinyi is also a Senior AI & Digital Operations Consultant at PwC Finland Advisory, and an active contributor to Industry 5.0 and metaverse initiatives, including the European Commission’s FORGING Expert Forum, the Metaverse Standards Forum working group, and the Metavethics Institute’s Scientific Advisory Board.

    Xinyi holds a Doctor of Science (Technology) in Engineering from Aalto University, a Master of Science in Robotics, Cognition, Intelligence from the Technical University of Munich, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics from Tongji University.

In this session Dr. Xinyi Tu from Aalto University will lead attendees through the key concepts and implications of the Industrial Metaverse, focusing especially on the role of Digital Twins and Extended Reality (XR). Through hands-on case studies on crane operations and in-plant material flow tracking, she’ll showcase practical applications and explore the architecture needed for a human-centered Metaverse.
